Hiking

Mountain lovers will enjoy the variety of hikes that start directly in Matt. With the Weissenberg cable car, you can save some of the uphill effort while enjoying breath-taking views.

The holiday region offers approximately 370 km of hiking trails and access to Sardona, a unique World Natural Heritage Area.

Bouldering

.. for explorers.

The Sernftal does not yet have official bouldering areas, but we have already been able to identify some "problems".

On the Gufelstock and the Panixer Pass we found rocks that are `boulderable` either through the passionate commitment of local boulderers or naturally.

Here you can find some impressions .

Climbing

The climbing gardens in Engi, on Mettmen Alp, at the Leglerhütte, and the climbing routes around Elm offer both beginners and experts, families and alpinists plenty of fun and challenging times.

For strong climbers: the Glarus Grosstal with the Klausen Pass, the Jägerstöcke, etc. offer unforgettable experiences.

Bathing

In just 5 minutes' walk from the Aktivhostel you can reach our favorite bathing spot on the Krauchbach.

There are other very nice bathing opportunities along the Sernf.

For those who want to more than cool off, the Klöntalsee is warmly recommended for a day trip.

Biken in Matt

Biking

Cycling trails through Sardona from Glarus to Grisons via the Panix Pass or via the Riseten Pass to the Walensee demand considerable endurance and skill, but also offer unforgettable experiences.

In the next village Elm, you find a bike rental, which also offers an E-bike station.

Family offers

The giant trail above Elm is a beautifully designed themed trail for young and old.

An educational forest trail up to the Weissenberge begins directly behind the hostel. Once at the top, you can try out the giant trampolines at the Edelwyss inn and, at the end of the day, enjoy your Cervelat at a SWISS family fireplace on the mountain or in the valley.
