In winter
Skiing & Snowboarding
The Elm ski area is just 4 km from HängeMatt.
With its 40 km of slopes, it is manageable and quiet, but offers the right thing for every skill level.
A snowpark and the BigAirBag provide variety and the local ski school will give you expert tips for carving the snow perfectly.
Sledging
Just a two-minute walk from the HängeMatt, the Weissenberge cable car will take you uphill for a 3 km long sledge run through the wildly romantic Chrauchbach Valley. The toboggan run ends just past HängeMatt, where a nice hot chocolate awaits.

Ski touring
Eleven ski tours are offered in Glarus' Chli Valley for almost all skill levels. Two actually start right outside the front door of the HängeMatt: the Sunnenhörnli and the Gulderstock tours. There are mountain huts nearby, such as the Stäfeli ski lodge and in the Mülibach Valley.

Cross-country skiing
The Chli Valley offers a total of 14 km of trails for cross-country skiers and skaters. One of the best-prepared trails runs for 7 km from Matt to Engi. In Elm, the 7 km are even illuminated until 9 pm on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
For beginners, the Elm Ski School does offer cross-country skiing courses.

Snowshoeing
Whether on the marked snowshoe tours or on your own. Snowshoes are perfect for exploring the wild and romantic natural landscapes of the Chli Valley.
Please be aware, however, of the wild animals that seek refuge in winter and are easily scared.
